The Social Art Award 2017
Can art change the world?
Under this question, the Institute for Art and Innovation e.V. had launched the first Social Art Award in 2017. Artists and cultural actors of all areas were invited to apply with their work to the field of social art. Artists from 131 countries responded with extraordinary works and projects.
On September 5, 2017, the three winners Lino Tonelotto from France, Quek Jia Qi from Singapore and Diogo da Cruz from Portugal were honored, and exhibited at WHITECONCEPTS Gallery in Berlin. They demonstrated with their politically engaged works that art can make current events visible and tangible. This is an important understanding for bringing forward the debate and thus a social change.

DON’T EAT WHAT THEY SERVE YOU
DON QUIXOTES THEATER GROUP
A theater piece based on the book by the same title (Don’t Eat What They Serve You) by Helen Svoronos, published by Children’s Law Library. The subject matter is diet. The famous food connoisseur, Mr. Fricassee, is preparing to visit Prokos, the castle town that was once famous for its magnificent flavors, all based on the proko plant. Everyone in the town of Prokos, the restaurant owners, the pastry chefs, the greengrocers, the butcher shops are in feverish preparations. They want to impress Mr. Fricassee with their produce. A good word from the connoisseur will certainly fetch a lot of clients in their shops and restaurants. And that means, a lot of money! Till the great day arrives! Fricassee passes through the main gate of the town and …drops unconscious! Text: Helen Svoronos Directed by: the members of the Don Quixotes Theater Group Cast: Constantinos Dalamagkas, Sofia Nikolopoulou, Katerina Ntovolou, Christos Christopoulos For children age 6 and up In collaboration with WWF Greece
