Title:
Birdsong

Author:
Rose Magee

Description:
“Birdsong'' is an ongoing, unfunded public art project that involves placing sustainable birdfeed sculptures around Berlin. Made from moulded vinyl records able to hold bird feed without getting wet. These are then left in various locations around Berlin with a note attached inviting people to take them home and use them, as well as a link to my website explaining the reasons behind the initiative. It is a means to research the possibilities of materials that are currently filling landfill sites and to develop a more sustainable art practice. By using existing materials such as vinyl records this project promotes resource saving and my aim is to encourage the public to look at waste materials in a different way as well as promoting more interaction with our local nature. Especially during this difficult time I would like to find ways in which art can take place anywhere and overcome the restrictions placed by social distancing. I strongly believe art is a powerful tool in the climate change awareness campaign.
