Award 2021
Welcome to the Social Art Award 2021 – Online Gallery!
We are grateful for the many inspiring contributions from artists around the world. The selected works reflect a broad spectrum of contemporary social art practices and explore new relationships between humans, nature, and technology. They address themes such as ecological regeneration, climate justice, sustainable futures, social resilience, and more-than-human perspectives.
Below you will find the submissions from the Social Art Award 2021 – New Greening edition that passed the initial jury round. The Online Gallery offers public visibility to these works and encourages dialogue around their ideas and approaches; it does not replace the final jury decision.
Thank you to all artists for sharing your visionary and committed work. We invite you to explore the gallery and engage with the perspectives shaping New Greening.
TinTin in auction 2
Aziz Anzabi
This is a series of sculptures which has been influenced by the character TinTin as a symbol of saving the environment and Aziz's goal has been to show how nature is being destroyed and if we continue in this way it wouldn't be left for future generations. TinTin carrying the whale emphasises the crisis humanity is in while subtly through the irony of a human carrying a whale, he demonstrates that humans are using finite resources faster than they could be restored. Through using a whale, Anzabi provokes sympathy as he illustrates that the destruction of the environment has permanent consequences and affects innocent lives as demonstrated through extinction of animals throughout history. Although Anzabi has portrayed TinTin as having a disability, TinTin is selfless in trying as he tries to protect the environment
