Title:
Africa , climate change

Author:
rousselle michel

Description:
Africa (acrylic and oil on canvas – 127 cm x 90 cm) This painting represents the struggle for life in Africa as consequence of the global climate warming. Climate change will strongly impact Africa which is already strongly felt : increase in temperature, drought but also floods and hurricanes. The consequences are decreasing productivity of agriculture , hunger and famine . Africa is not responsible for climate warming but has to face the consequences. The style is figurative which makes the subject very comprehensible. The background is painted with acrylic and the figures with oil, which increase the contrast and focus the viewer's attention on the foreground. The word HELP is written in the sky. On the right of the painting, the leg is almost transparent which increases the perception of famine.
