Award 2021
Welcome to the Social Art Award 2021 – Online Gallery!
We are grateful for the many inspiring contributions from artists around the world. The selected works reflect a broad spectrum of contemporary social art practices and explore new relationships between humans, nature, and technology. They address themes such as ecological regeneration, climate justice, sustainable futures, social resilience, and more-than-human perspectives.
Below you will find the submissions from the Social Art Award 2021 – New Greening edition that passed the initial jury round. The Online Gallery offers public visibility to these works and encourages dialogue around their ideas and approaches; it does not replace the final jury decision.
Thank you to all artists for sharing your visionary and committed work. We invite you to explore the gallery and engage with the perspectives shaping New Greening.
Preserving Biodiversity
Viktoria Spokojna
While earth’s biodiversity is super-rich of many different species that haven’t been discovered yet, many more are being threatened to go extinct. Reasons include human consumption, pollution, climate change, as well as population growth. According to National Geographic, half of all species on earth will be wiped out within the next century. So, conservation efforts are definitely due - as soon as possible. 6 ways to preserve biodiversity, according to Yale sustainability are: 🌱 supporting local farms and markets 🌱 saving the bees 🌱 planting local flowers, fruits, and veggies 🌱 taking shorter showers 🌱 respecting local habitats 🌱 checking and knowing the source of products we buy - the companies we support can leave a huge footprint and accelerating climate change with their behavior. So it’s up to us, to support - or not support some of those
