Award 2021
Welcome to the Social Art Award 2021 – Online Gallery!
We are grateful for the many inspiring contributions from artists around the world. The selected works reflect a broad spectrum of contemporary social art practices and explore new relationships between humans, nature, and technology. They address themes such as ecological regeneration, climate justice, sustainable futures, social resilience, and more-than-human perspectives.
Below you will find the submissions from the Social Art Award 2021 – New Greening edition that passed the initial jury round. The Online Gallery offers public visibility to these works and encourages dialogue around their ideas and approaches; it does not replace the final jury decision.
Thank you to all artists for sharing your visionary and committed work. We invite you to explore the gallery and engage with the perspectives shaping New Greening.

It is not easy to stop fighting to stop our human history of 10,000+ nonstop years of war. Despite the odds, Taiwanese-American artist Chin Chih Yang is determined to help achieve peace on earth. Yang will flesh out his vision of a peaceful, interconnected world with gigantic multi-colored heart lighting up the darkness. Although he has no experience with heights, Mr. Yang will challenge himself to ascend a very tall rope ladder attached to a hovering helicopter, dirigible, or the roof of an indoor rotunda. To be presented in New York, the world’s most internationally diverse community, Yang will be steadied by 230 collaborators, one from each nation on earth. When he reaches the apex, his fellow performers—each holding a unique brightly-colored LED strand constituting Yang’s cape—will power on a gigantic artwork illuminating the darkness. So unified in Yang’s fleshed-out version of an interconnected world, these 230 individuals will serve as role models as a micro-level spiritual force intended to create macro-level worldwide harmony.
