Award 2021

Welcome to the Social Art Award 2021 – Online Gallery!

We are grateful for the many inspiring contributions from artists around the world. The selected works reflect a broad spectrum of contemporary social art practices and explore new relationships between humans, nature, and technology. They address themes such as ecological regeneration, climate justice, sustainable futures, social resilience, and more-than-human perspectives.

Below you will find the submissions from the Social Art Award 2021 – New Greening edition that passed the initial jury round. The Online Gallery offers public visibility to these works and encourages dialogue around their ideas and approaches; it does not replace the final jury decision.

Thank you to all artists for sharing your visionary and committed work. We invite you to explore the gallery and engage with the perspectives shaping New Greening.

Description:
Basis of my art is mystery, uncanny of nature and complexity. In general I am responding to social issues through my art and pollution is one of them. Recently I have started to explore on the plastic pollution created by human being. In this series of work, I have used plastic milk bottle or part of plastic bottle and made holes. Holes are implying violation of space, moat or barrier which is dark and uncanny and it creates division in between human being and nature. In the work viewers will find a disguised, discarded milk bottle which is part of everyday life and transport them into another world this could be environmental issues, preserve nature, effective way of discarding plastic or pondering of nature. Viewers must get an experience of feeling of woodland or forest i.e. uncertainty, chaos, pleasure and spirit.
