Title:
A piece of violece

Author:
Lea Hohn

Description:
The installation is made up of old Christmas trees hanging upside down from the ceiling. The trees are found with their arms cut off. A red line is stretched between the stubs of the trees. It resembles a crime pin board. An image of a perpetrator and a victim is created. The red coloured string symbolises the urgency and importance of the continued discourse. The installation is not in the setting of the average white cube, the surrounding of the trees is unclear, which leads the viewer to make their own references. The work shows an act full of violence performed by humans against nature. As the red string shows that the discourse of biodiversity has to be brought up every day, so the dots between environmental damages and sustainability can be connected. The installation inspires for a change to be made by human-beings.
