Welcome to the Social Art Award 2025 – Online Gallery!

We are grateful for the many powerful contributions from artists across the globe. The selected works reflect the diversity of contemporary social art practices and address urgent issues such as climate and water crises, social and economic inequality, migration, conflict, discrimination, and the protection of human and more-than-human life.

Below you will find the submissions from the edition of 2024/2025 that passed the initial jury round. The Online Gallery offers public visibility to these works and supports dialogue around their themes; it does not replace the final jury decision.

Thank you to all artists for sharing your inspiring and committed work. We invite you to explore the gallery and engage with the perspectives shaping the Social Art Award 2025.

Title:
Butterfly Effect

Author:
jamesmellor06

Description:
Butterfly Effect embodies the delicate yet powerful interplay between transformation, resilience, and planetary healing. The ethereal figure, fluid in form and identity, represents a celestial guardian of balancea being deeply connected to the cosmic and oceanic realms. Its fiery hair, painted in radiant strokes, symbolizes rebirth, like the sun’s warmth awakening the tides. Beneath its outstretched arms, the ocean swirls in monochromatic vastness, reflecting both the unknown and the potential for renewal. A single vibrant bloom at the figure’s feet stands as a beacon of life, contrasting the vast abyss, signifying the regenerative strength of nature. This piece speaks to the interconnectedness of all living things, mirroring the ripple effect of change where one act of care, no matter how small, can spark waves of transformation across the world. Artist Statement "Butterfly Effect" aligns with the Blue Tribes philosophy, embodying the harmony between celestial and marine forces. The figure represents an ancient guardian of the seas, a spirit of renewal and resilience, watching over the tides that sustain life. Fire and water converge, symbolizing the delicate balance of planetary healing. Through this piece, I explore the interconnected dance of life—how our choices, like a butterfly’s wings, send ripples across the ocean and beyond.
