New Greening – Envisioning positive futures
We are proud to share the same mission with our partners envisioning positive futures together. IFAI specializes in the facilitation of purpose-driven interventions at the intersections of art, science, and technology. With our interdisciplinary projects we not only empower people and organizations but co-create solutions to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.

What is your vision for 2030?
By 2030 I expect a world committed with the SDGs, where the citizens are well informed and acting together with the local governments. A society focused on reconnecting with the world and not focused on consumption.

My vision is that sustainability and social values will be absolutely normal for every business strategy, and you cannot operate without them. Making a Profit with Purpose will be the new business as usual, without any seconds thoughts.

People change their values. They recognize what we lose if we continue to chase after consumption goals without considering the consequences for the environment. For this switch in the mind, new narratives have emerged. Green ideas are discussed constructively in films, books and the media. Success is what preserves the environment.

I just imagined myself beamed into 2030. I would see a fictional scenario of humans having realized the Paris Climate Agreement by 70%. Global warming has been increasing to 1.3 degrees but at least both the curve of CO2 emissions has been flattened and the rate of mass extinction slowed down slightly. After decades of denial, humans have understood that they are intrinsically connected with everything surrounding them, that they are nature.

My vision for 2030 is that we have successfully challenged the current logic of the global economy and successfully implemented sustainable versions. Instead of endless growth with externalised impacts, a transformation process of the economy has begun worldwide. The new logic is called the Circular Economy and Doughnut Economy.

Why did you join the New Greening project?
We are part of nature and are not above it. Of all the planets there is only the earth that can offer us a habitat. Films about futures are usually dystopias. They assume that we humans are stupid and will destroy the earth. Therefore, a new planet has to be found. But there is no way out. I would like to help guide the visualizing, visionary power of film and art in ways that make them part of the solution. The ideas that already exist become part of the film plot. The film plot could be a testing laboratory for new social ideas.

I am a big conceptual art enthusiast and am happy to support talented artists and inspiring ideas on new ways of thinking, feeling and living. Art takes me to the present and opens up a space of connection to life itself. Connecting this experience to visions is exactly what the too rationalized Western society needs, I think.

I think it is really important to relate
sustainability with every area of our lives, and to do so we also need to consider art and creativity. Through art we can have a direct impact on people and transfer a lot of ideas and concepts with one single piece or action. The power of art is really high and I think it is a good channel to reach a lot of diverse people.

Because it’s a great project that fits very well with what we at Sustainable mPact™ and Sustainable Soundtracks™ are doing. We believe art can and will play an important role in the sustainability transition and we’re excited to be part of the project.

I believe that for a successful transformation towards a sustainable and more just world, we need new narratives, stories and images. Artists have always had an important role in making the future recognisable and tangible. We need to imagine the future to get us there.

I think that nature is beautiful, even artistic, in the most profound ways. Its beauty has an inspirational element that we can embrace to create a more sustainable and greener life. I believe that the New Greening Project opens up the opportunity to tap into this potential and bring sustainability closer to people, showing how it can be part of our lives using an exciting format.

What drives you?
I believe that in people lies the power and awareness for a necessary change in our world and its structures. I am convinced that diversity and the inclusion of all perspectives and all abilities are the key, both at the corporate level and for the solution of global challenge

There are many things. The motivating feeling of doing something together in a group, surfing beautiful waves that give me the feeling of flying and being one with the elements and the cosmos when meditating… just to name a few.

I am touched by the beauty of nature and like to protect it. I feel physical pain when I see the suffering of the animals that have to endure our environmental waste. We are part of nature. But we mostly only focus on our civilizational problems. This leads to huge losses while we believe we will gain something.
