SDG Workshop: 9 April 2021

New Greening II_SDG workshop

Bake a cake and save the world: learn, apply and co-create with the SDGs

Calling all those with an appetite for sustainability! Everyone is welcome at our next community event. In this workshop, we look forward to learning together about the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and exploring how they can be applied. We foster reflection about global issues and how to solve them in a creative context. For that, we will be introducing and using the SDG ‘cake’ model, developed by Swedish trans-disciplinary environmental scientist Carl Folke. It shows the biosphere as the foundation of environmental, social and economic goals. This conceptualization adopts an integrated view of development rather than addressing these goals as segregated areas.

Let’s bake sustainable futures together!

The UN has developed 17 SDGs to define global priorities and aspirations for 2030 (https://sdgs.un.org/). They represent a major opportunity to prioritise the health of the planet and make ecological protection and regeneration the foundation of our progress.

Accordingly, in this informative and creative workshop session, we will apply the SDGs to specific environmental issues in different regions around the world. As the New Greening scenario asks for transformative solutions, SDG’s help develop and direct a sustainable way of thinking.
